A LESBIAN AND HER LAPTOP: July OVERVIEW

The logo of a lesbian and her laptop states july overview of a l and h l.

Monthly overviews recap blog post activity on “A Lesbian and Her Laptop,” personal updates, and what’s coming up for the blog next month.

This July on A Lesbian and Her Laptop

This July, A Lesbian and Her Laptop out performed itself again, just a few dozen views shy of breaking 5,000 views for the first time and peaking over 3,000 visitors and 345 followers! The growth on AL&HL so far this year has been great, and I am so excited to see this continue as we push forward with this hellish year. Keep in mind that the best way to help this grow carryon is by sharing the posts and telling your friends to read!

July gave us two book reviews, Colors by Johvan Calvo and Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, both of which books deserve a read! For International Nonbinary Day, I invited nonbinary writer, Chyna Parker, to share their experience of coming to terms with their gender and what this journey included. This month’s free J&J Chat offered advice regarding coming out to homophobic parents. You can submit an anonymous J&J Chat request for the chance of being picked for the monthly free chat, or order a J&J Chat on the blog’s commission menu for $3.

The Ko-Fi page is accepting one-time donations of $3 (as always!). As a reminder, I now offer J&J Chats ($3), LGBTQ creators and artist promo posts ($5), and queer content reviews ($8) via my commissions menu. The Ko-Fi shop now includes holographic stickers ($4) or pin badges ($6). You can also get these items at a cheaper rate with a Patreon subscription all through the month of August.

The Patreon for AL&HL now has 18 patrons for $40/month! Patreon subscriptions start at just $1 per month, which includes a monthly “How I Met My Girlfriend” bonus post and book updates. All through the month of August, new and existing members who pledge at least $2/month will receive a holographic sticker!

Personal updates

The vegetable garden is still going strong! We have harvested all our garlic, which is now safely hanging in the basement storage. Cucumbers require daily picking, peaking at 65 cucumbers in one day. We’ve resorted to giving them away to friends and neighbors as our shelves are already packed with pickle jars. The tomatoes are finally starting to ripen, so homemade salsa should be coming soon.

I am still offering services to help strengthen writing of all kinds, including essays, research papers, fanfics, etc., in both the content and grammar. You can DM me on Twitter with questions and work to review. For $3 per 250 words, I correct all grammar/typo errors and provide a write-up addressing organization, development, and style of all writing.

I am still depressed because of COVID. No idea when I’ll see my girlfriend again. I can’t stop buying underwear and making tattoo plans.

Coming up August on A Lesbian and Her Laptop

Very cool news for August: I will be publishing my first product review from a brand that I am genuinely excited about! A book review for Rose and Rosie’s Overshare is on the agenda this month, as is an update in the “How I Met My Girlfriend” series.

September will feature another guest-post series featuring diverse bisexual stories for Bisexual Awareness Week. If you are interested in being a guest writer for this series, please DM me on Twitter!

If you enjoyed any of the blog posts during June, consider making a one-time $3 donation to my Ko-Fi, or becoming a patron for exclusive blog content (starting at $1/month). And remember to share your favorite posts to get more people reading!
